House of Welcome (HOW) Adult Day Services of the North Shore Senior Center is a pioneering, award-wining program in the Chicago area providing specialized programs for persons with memory loss from Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. The programs offered are:
- HOW's day program offers structured, therapeutic, small-group activities in a comfortable, homelike setting,
- Alzheimer's Family Support Group, Making Sense of Memory Loss, an educational program for family members of persons with early memory loss;
- an Early Memory Loss Supper Club; Mind Matters, a group program for persons with early memory loss; and
- Caring for Persons with Memory Loss, an educational program for family members of persons with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
HOW publishes an Alzheimer's Caregiver Manual, and community education programs on dementia and related topics are offered.
